Few women do not suffer nowadays from too small,
"hanging" or asymmetrical breasts. They can be naturally too small or
have changed after one or more pregnancies or even after a big loss of
weight. More and more women attempt to realize their personal beauty
ideals with the help of larger and more beautifully formed breasts.
In most cases, exclusive use of implants leads to the desired
success, especially with small, asymmetrical and only slightly drooping
breasts. When the problem is more pronounced, it is frequently
necessary to lift the breasts, a procedure which can be performed
during the same operation.
The different operational procedures
The form of the female breast is determined by the size of, and the
amount of fatty tissue on the mammary gland, which has the function of
producing milk after a successful pregnancy. A film of loose tissue
separates the gland from the pectoral muscle underneath, which, in
turn, rests upon the thorax.
In principle, it is possible to place an implant between the gland
and the muscle or even under the breast muscle. The optimal procedure
must be determined and specified depending on the basis of anatomical
conditions, which will be discussed between the female patient and the
surgeon before the operation. Possible avenues include cutting the skin
in the natural breast folds, the armpit and in the nipple area.
With the procedures used in our hospital, both the gland and the
nipple remain intact, so that breastfeeding capability is almost
unaffected.
A set of strictly tested, hygienically harmless silicone-coated
implants with different fillings, forms, firmness and surfaces are at
your disposal. In our clinic, we use exclusive high-quality implants
with a quality seal, guaranteeing longevity and inherent stability.
In each case we recommend that you inform your gynaecologist about the planned operation to allow a pre-operative mammogram.
Chances of success
With appropriate execution of the surgical procedures specially
tailored to suit you, your breast will have a beautiful, full and
natural outward appearance after meticulous surgery. As the mammary
gland in each case rests upon the implant, the breast appears and feels
like a normal, taut breast after the operation.
The operation
Performed under general anaesthetic, surgery lasts for
approximately one hour. After extensively disinfecting the cavity under
the mammary gland or under the muscle via the smallest possible
pre-arranged incision, the implant is inserted. This pre-condition is
important for normally positioned, beautiful and symmetrical breasts
due to the size and position of the cavity.
In order to avoid accumulations of blood and other discharges,
silicone hoses will be inserted into the wound, drawing the secretions
out. This removal usually takes place on the second or third day after
the operation.
The time after the operation
In order to achieve an optimally formed breast we will apply a tape
bandage within the first five days after surgery. In addition, we
recommend the full-time wearing of a well-fitting medical brassiere
(which we provide) to ensure lateral and lower support of the breast
for at least six weeks.
The wound-healing process and the reduction of post-operative
swelling needs approximately 10-14 days. Definite results however, will
not be apparent until after a period of weeks or months.
After five days you will be able to shower with a sterilizing soap
solution, however, a full bath should be avoided within the first three
weeks after the operation.
After approximately three weeks, the stitches will be removed at the same time as a change of bandages.
Depending on the opinion of the operating surgeon, you should
refrain from sporting activities for six to twelve weeks. After this
time, we strongly recommend the wearing of a well-fitting brassiere
during any sports. We also recommend that you inform your gynaecologist
about the reduction or adjustment of the breast so that later results
of preventative breast cancer examinations can be correctly evaluated.
Surgery-specific risks
Special risks of these operations can be asymmetry, infections and
healing disorders, scar formations, post-operative haemorrhages and
bruising as well as temporary numbness. Since the body recognizes it as
a foreign material, it builds a capsule of tissue around the implant. A
hardening of this capsule, which could cause pain and deformations,
happens only in extremely rare cases.

Frequently asked questions about breast enlargement
Who performs the operations?
An experienced specialist for plastic surgery (and member of the union of German plastic surgeons) carries out all cosmetic surgery in our hospital.
Is silicone dangerous?
Extensive international studies have proved that silicone does not cause breast cancer, rheumatic or skin diseases, etc. By using cross-linking of the silicone molecules in up-to-date implants, leakages are virtually impossible.
Is the ability to breastfeed reduced after surgery?
If the implantation is performed via an incision in the armpit or under the breast, unrestricted breastfeeding capability is to be expected. We have however, noticed a reduction in breastfeeding ability after implantations via an incision in the nipple area.
Are there age limits?
In the case of young women, breast development should be final, i.e. a prosthetic implantation before the age of 18 years will not be performed. There is no upper age limit; instead it is up to the individual to choose.
Does the breast look artificial after the operation?
We perform the implantation above and/or underneath the breast muscle, depending upon the anatomical and constitutional situation of the female patient. This leads in almost all cases to a beautiful and natural breast form, depending of course, on the desired size. You can see for yourself in our extensive picture collection.
Will I notice a foreign body sensation afterwards?
The implant will be completely accepted by your body and after some weeks of swelling felt as normal tissue and of belonging to your body. Even when you lay face down, you will not feel any foreign body sensation.
