FAQ

Nose correction

Besides the functions of breathing and smelling, the nose is seen as a guide to a person’s character, virility and ethnical attributes. Today, it has a considerable aesthetic significance. The famous French mathematician Blaise Pascale once said, “If Cleopatra’s nose had been shorter, then the face of the whole world would be different today”.

A misshapen or unsuitable nose, whether hereditary or caused by an accident, can often be the reason for teasing or tasteless remarks, which can be insulting to the person involved. Not every person can cope with this kind of permanent mental pressure.

A cosmetic operation inside and outside the nose can change the form and improve functional impairments. The patient will be given the possibility to regain self-acceptance and increase self-esteem. Due to recently refined operational procedures, we are now in the position to be able to perform nasal surgery without visible scarring.

Operational techniques
Several incisions in the nasal mucous membrane allow us to see the cartilage and bone sections, which need to be corrected and reformed. In some circumstances, it may be necessary to make a transplant in cases of sunken nasal bridges or peaked cartilage. This will be taken from either surplus nasal cartilage or from the ear, leaving almost invisible scars. There is no need to worry about deformation of the ear. After the operation, we will apply a special plaster and nose splint in order to preserve the new shape. This should be worn for a period of fourteen days.

Chances of success
By using the appropriate surgical procedure to suit you, any nasal correction will refine your face and restore normal facial proportions. Our own experience shows that our patients rank as some of the happiest people in the area of cosmetic surgery.

The time after the operation
In order to avoid excessive post-operative swelling, we recommend that you lay and sleep in a sitting position for a few days and regularly apply cool, damp compresses.

To enable the swelling and bruising to subside and the wound to recover fully, you will need between 10-14 days. However, you will only see the final results after a period of weeks or even months.

Depending on the opinion of the operating surgeon, you should refrain from intense sporting activities for approximately 6-12 weeks. Consequences of bending or carrying heavy objects include increased blood pressure or tearing of blood vessels. We also suggest that you avoid using the sauna for two months.

After four days, you will be able to shower with sterilizing soap solutions, but a bath is not recommended until after three weeks. We also suggest that you avoid using the sauna for two months

For a recovery free from complications, you should abstain from alcohol and nicotine during the first four post-operative weeks.

Surgery-specific risks
Infections and healing disorders, lack of symmetry, irregularities, widened scar formations, post-operative haemorrhages and temporary loss of feeling are regarded as special risks of this surgery. In addition, there is a risk of asymmetry, over, or under correction. Due to the swelling of the nasal mucous membrane, it is possible that you will have trouble breathing or a limited sense of smell within the first few weeks. Scarring is not visible.
